About the Role…

Become a valued member of the Burnside Hospital team and you will have the opportunity to work within our Perioperative Service and contribute to the hospital achieving our mission of providing safe, contemporary care for every patient, every time in current well-equipped facilities.

The CSSD Technician works within our CSSD and works in collaboration with the Clinical Manager, Clinical Nurse Coordinators and other members of the Perioperative team.

Reporting to the CSSD Co-ordinator you will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring the CSSD and associated equipment is maintained in a clean and tidy state on a daily basis.
  • Hazardous waste is handled in accordance with Work Health and Safety guidelines.
  • Maintaining appropriate documentation of vital CSSD equipment
  • Demonstrating understanding of and ability to use all clean up equipment/machines, drying/sealing equipment and sterilizing equipment

This position works over a 6 day roster and includes early and late shifts. Hours are to be negotiated.

Essential skills & competencies:

  • Experience in a similar role within the CSSD setting
  • Relevant Sterilisation qualification
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to deal with healthcare consumers in a professional and confident manner
  • Willingness to embrace and demonstrate the values of Burnside Hospital
  • Flexible and proactive approach to work with a willingness to learn
  • A commitment to continuous performance improvement
