Sealink/Captain Cook Cruises WA, Perth's Premier Cruise Company for over 30 years is looking for the right individual to join our team in a multi-faceted role as a Tour Guide for our 'Fremantle Craft Beer Tour.

This casual position will require you to be available on Friday and Saturday from 11am – 4pm, with the opportunity for additional work and hours in a deckhand role should the successful applicant be interested.(see deckhand requirements below)

Whilst previous experience as a Tour Guide will be looked upon advantageously, applicants who are naturally outgoing, comfortable talking in front of crowds and able to balance being social whilst remaining professional will be highly considered.

For the Tour Guide portion of the position, guides are required to be present at ready to meet guests at B-Shed in Fremantle as they arrive on our vessel to begin the walking portion of the tour. Guides are responsible for a guided historic walking tour around Fremantle, as well as tasting as 3 local pubs; The Monk, Sail & Anchor and The Federal Hotel. Lunch is included for the guide. Whilst guests are encouraged to enjoy themselves, you will also be responsible as an employee of Captain Cook Cruises to ensure a responsible service of alcohol is maintained. Guests are to escorted back to the dock for their return cruise back to Perth at 3.45pm


  • Reliable with a professional attitude towards work, company policy and requirements
  • Knowledgeable, fun, enthusiastic, down to earth, engaging, funny, culturally sensitive, and entertaining whilst still remaining polite and politically correct
  • Customer focused and willing to go the extra yard to "make someone's day"
  • Must be contactable by phone at all times during working hours and be diligent in responding
  • Knowledge or interest in all aspects of local and Western Australian (WA) history and/or a willingness to learn. This covers geography, prominent characters, architecture, culture, current events and attractions.
  • An interest in craft beer and the Micro-Brewery Scene in WA and/or a willingness to learn about the process
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
  • As this is a walking tour good overall fitness is required
  • English speaking; other languages are a plus
  • First aid is mandatory

Applicants please be aware that there drinking is not permitted on the tours. Applicants who are successful in proceeding to the interview stage of the hiring process will also be required to give a speech based on content from one the tour stops (information will be provided). Hard working, fit and energetic person who enjoys working in a team environment. Experience of being on and around boats is favorable but not necessary, enthusiastic about hospitality and interacting with customers and staff are a must.

You will be required to carry out a number of responsibilities (training will be provided), which not limited to but include the following:

  • - Handling lines and fenders during docking and undocking 
  • - Preparing and maintaining passenger areas during the cruises 
  • - Setting and clearing tables
  • - Bar service
  • - Customer interaction
  • - Assisting with embarking provisions and supplies on board
  • - Assisting in general maintenance

Essential Criteria

- Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate

- First Aid Certificate

- Right to work in Australia
