Polite Social is a high-end, experiential photography and marketing company. We provide social photo, GIF and video solutions at brand activations, corporate events, product launches and private parties.

We are looking for someone to join our casual team as an onsite photo studio operator/event manager. This involves managing the set up of our multi-camera photographic equipment, photo-studios and bespoke video activations at events and all-round equipment management. Training will be provided.

You will be the general ‘go to’ person for anything technical on-site at live events. The ideal candidate will have an interest in photography or videography, have experience in the events/AV industry and be passionate about new technologies.

You don’t need to have experience specifically with photo booths and photo booth software but you must consider yourself to be highly technical and have a good understanding of computer software and hardware. Above all, you must be a fast and inquisitive learner.

This is a physical role, frequently involving lifting, loading and packing of equipment and flight cases. You may be required to travel interstate if necessary as well. If the event is at a national or international location all travel and accommodation will be provided.

Onsite duties include:

• Preparing equipment based on communication from our Sydney staff

• Transporting equipment to and from our local storage unit to the event

• Setting-up and breaking-down the required photography-based set/photobooth

• Shooting photos*, operating equipment and managing promotional staff

• Organising data collection and distributing printed photos

• Interacting with the client and guests to ensure everyone has a positive

Experience, Skills, Education and Qualifications Required:

• You will be meticulously organised, have a very strong eye for detail and be

• Unrestricted driver’s license (manual a MUST)

• Experience with client interaction/customer service (previous experience in events will be highly regarded)

• You will handle yourself under pressure

• Able to lift 32kg

• At least one year experience within a similar role or technical expertise

• Must be highly organised and motivated by working in a team

• Passion for photography and video

• Highly motivated and able to work under pressure

• Excellent communication skills.

• Ability to explain technical concepts in a simple and calm manner

• A ‘can-do’ attitude and ability to find workarounds when presented with problems

• A practical problem solver

• Quick to identify outstanding tasks required to complete set up at events

• An excellent understanding of cabling equipment on site for power and data

• A working understanding of networking and router configurations

• Familiar with Windows and Mac operating systems

• An excellent eye for detail and initiative in solving problems with electrical equipment


Photography knowledge is not essential for this role – we will provide all the training required for the preferred candidate. Please only apply if available for a minimum of 8- 12 months.
