Alchemy Distillers is a young and growing business that is built of following creativity and a sense of adventure. Alchemy explores distillation as w hole which sees us producing a wide variety of spirits, from whisky to vodka and gin. We are looking for an individual to join our close nit team to help grow the business and assist with duties across the entire business. We are committed to growing roles for our staff members so this is a great entry level position to join a team that is passionate about all things spirits. Reporting to: Service Manager and Directors (Julia Ainsworth/ Evan Kipping and Jannick Zester)Main Tasks:Preparation of beverages and cocktails

  • Ensure all beverages are prepared correctly and are up to an acceptable standard
  • Prepare daily garnishes and drink ingredients in sufficient quantities for service
  • Be available for functions as they arise to ensure that the beverages are prepared and served as required
Hosting Tastings and Distillery Tours
  • Guiding guests through the Alchemy product range (on job training provided)
  • Explanation of business values and direction
  • Explanation of Distilling process (on job training provided)
  • Assisting customers with retail and drinks purchases
Assisting front of house stock supplies and orders
  • Ensure wastage is minimised by careful supervision of beverage preparation and serving methods
  • Ensure proper storage methods are utilised to prevent stock loss
  • Ensure the security of all alcoholic and non alcoholic drink stocks in the kitchen, restaurant and distillery
  • Assist with the ordering and control of stock levels
  • Work to achieve budgets as discussed with your direct reports
Ensure staff are working safely at all times
  • Ensure staff are aware of and follow safe work practices at all times
  • Assist other staff in the cleaning of the restaurant at the end of the shift
  • Ensure his/her own work station is kept clean and hygienic at all times
Cash handling, financial reporting and budget management
  • Work closely with the venue manager to review all front of house sales and expenditure on a weekly and monthly basis or as otherwise directed
  • Manage budgets for purchasing, staffing and general costs to achieve KPI’s as discussed in your initial contract or ongoing performance reviews.
  • Cash up at the end of service and store cash in venue safe with all required paperwork
Assisting with accommodation
  • Changing and cleaning apartment ready for new guests
  • Assisting with cleaning sheets and linen to replace apartment linen
  • Communicating with guests to assist with check in/out and general booking enquiries
Skills and Abilities Required
  • Drinks and bar experience preferred but not essential
  • Punctual, organised and trustworthy
  • Ability to motivate staff
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to resolve conflict in a constructive manner
  • Ability to solve problems and think-on-your-feet
  • Cellar door experience preferred but not essential
  • Willingness to take initiative and make decisions
  • Ability to delegate tasks effectively
