Situated in the Ferntree Gully, Shiraaz is a colourful, licensed venue offering hearty, classic Indian dishes, plus banquet menus. We require the best of the best with our kitchen staff.

We require a chef with the right attitude and passion for working with food with at least 2 years of relevant experience and a minimum of a Diploma qualification or equivalent in substantial experience. Salary of $54,000 + super for this full time position.

As the Chef, you will undergo the following tasks and responsibilities.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Receives and examine foodstuff
  • Estimates food consumption, and requisitions or purchase foodstuffs
  • Serving the food within timeframe
  • Develops new recipes based as according to new trend and customer demand
  • Supervisor’s personnel engaged in preparing, cooking, and serving meats, sauces, vegetables, soups and other foods
  • Cooking the food as according to the recipes
  • Setting up kitchen area before each task
  • Receiving and storing product properly
  • Learn and practicing the safe food handling
  • Keeping the work area clean and non-hygienic
  • Safely using kitchen based equipment and tool
  • To manage allocated area every day
  • Keeping all food in a high level of quality in line with company standards
  • Trimming meats and vegetables as per requirements
  • Ensure the safe use of all gas and electrical equipment in the building where required

REQUIREMENTS:

To successfully apply for this full time role, you:

  • Must have proven relevant experience (2+ years) in Indian cuisine
  • Will have relevant qualifications or a significant level of relevant experience (minimum Diploma)
  • Be passionate about food and take pride in your work
  • Are a strong team player
  • Are a self-starter and highly motivated
  • Able to multitask within a high-pressured environment
